My blog friend Lena posted about her experience knitting a pair of socks at one time and inspired me to do the same.
So back in March I got the book and was ready to learn how to knit a pair of sock at one time. That has got to be better. Who wants to start that second sock anyway.
Your eyes are not fooling you those are DPNS I was working on. I should have know this wasn't going to go well.
I stopped working on the DPNS and started my pair at one time.
Lookin good!
I needed my DPN fix and put the pair at one time aside.
Yes the old one sock at a time were done in a week or so.
One sock at a time is just fine with me!
I love my DPNS!!!!
I agree! I got Antje Gillingham's book for Christmas last year and I even took her class when she came to the lys. I like the method, but can't seem to ever finish a pair of socks that way (so far, I've finished one pair... the ones that we learned on in the class, using worsted weight!). I always go back to the dpns.
ReplyDeleteI love the green stripy color way. Thoes are going to be super cute socks. I agree that's a great book.
ReplyDeletewow! I don't knit socks, but knitting a PAIR at a time looks amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteI knit one sock at a time, but use the magic loop method. It uses a long circular needle, and eliminates my tendency for ladder stitches. (And dropping dpns. And getting confused about which needle I am on...). I can pretty much adapt any thing to the 'loops of magickness' now...hats, ipod pockets, anything tubular
ReplyDelete!
I've never tried knitting a pair of socks at the same time and I can honestly say that its never appealed either. It's DPNs every time for me!
ReplyDeleteI really like the green and brown strips. I tried knitting 2 socks at once, but it seemed like it took me forever. I loved the idea of having both socks match in length and everything. dpns are my friend!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. Doing two socks at once is too fiddly. I am ok with one at a time on magic loop.
ReplyDeleteOh, both the pairs looks great, and it was really nice to hear about your experiences :-)!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Your socks are looking good, I have never made a pair, I am slightly scared of dpn's and have no idea how to knit in the round.lol. That book does look interesting though.

I do like magic loop but sometimes I just can't get the join to look right and I have to go back to good ol' DPNs. I'm glad that I taught myself to knit socks on DPNs first. Some people seem intimidated by them.
ReplyDeleteI am loving the socks!!!! I haven't tried knitting socks yet as those little DPNs seem rather intimidating...any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteEm just jump into DPNs. Get an easy hat pattern something using a set of size 6 or 7 with some worsted weight yarn. It looks harder than it is.
ReplyDeleteYour socks all look great. But I have to say I'm a two at a time cicrs girl these days. I've become hooked on cicrs and now feel very clumsy when I pick up my dpns.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog, by the way.
I love the greens and lavenders of that last one!!
ReplyDeleteNow I have a question that will show one and all how green I am at knitting....What is DPN ?
I just learned how to knit socks (finished my first one yesterday)! I was an avid crocheter and had never done more than knit a long blob of fabric when I was 8 and my Mom first showed me how to knit. I'm definitely hooked on sock knitting now.
ReplyDeleteI thought I'd never be able to work DPN's and wanted to work on circs, but the store didn't have them in small sizes so I breathed deep and jumped into the land of DPN's. Even after so short a time I feel like I'm comfortable with them now, and I'm in no huge hurry to pick up circs.
I really like the green yarn you're using for the pair at a time socks though, I hope they get finished some day!!
I love your socks. You have done a great job. I knit socks on the circular method one at a time.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, you should definitely take up spinning.
I've made lots of socks using dpns but recently I tried using 2 circulars. I didn't like it very well because it seemed like I spent too much time trying to locate the other circ to knit the other half of the sock. I would like to try that method though, making two socks at once.
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to DPNs myself. I don't blame you.
