I'm Still Here!

No post since March 15th just isn't like me.
Lupus has done me in and knitting has been slow.
When I get down I find others who are having a more difficult time and that stops me from feeling sorry for myself.
I ran into a friend I have not seen for a long time and she was with her beautiful 6 year old daughter who has Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. This sweet angel goes through so much pain she can't walk sometimes. They are going to start her on shots of Methotrexate. I'm on this chemo and I know what it does to me I can't begin to imagine how she will deal with it. We must find cures to these diseases.
My first born and husband are in their first home so I've spent a great deal of time with them.
I hope to post picture of my slow moving unfinished projects this weekend.

I Have Come a Long Way

I was looking through some of my first projects and realized how much my knitting had developed.

This is the first sweater I made. The pattern is from a TV show that is no longer on the air.

My Lupus knitting break has given me time to look back from where I came.
I just love to Knit!

Lupus can slow down knitting

Lupus flares can stop me from having a good nights sleep but they will not stop knitting. Maybe just slow it down a bit. My hands feel like hot heavy rocks and every joint in my body is at war.

I am not the writer in the family, that's my oldest daughter.
I did find Alison J. Hyde,a knitter with Lupus who writes beautifully. Reading her Blog helps put words to living with Lupus pain. Her knitting, patterns, writting and spirit are an inspiration to all with Lupus.
The Embossed Diamonds is one of her amazing patterns I hope to try.

The first thing I did when I was diagnosed with Lupus was go to the computer to find Lupus Foundation of America. The site is very informative as are Lupus Now and the newsletters I receive.



The Lupus Book by Dr.Daniel J. Wallace still helps me through hard times.

I was first a Crocheter

My first love has always been crochet. I taught myself to crochet when I was 13 or 14 years old. I went to the 5&10 cent store and brought a booklet, Learn to Crochet.
I taught my mother to crochet and we would spend many happy hours crocheting together. Now that she is no longer with us these memories are so comforting. I also taught both my daughters and many students at school. Now my daughters continues the tradition and teach their students to crochet.
When Lupus came crochet had to go.
I'm unable to crochet much these days because it hurts my hands. Thank God knitting doesn't effect my hands as much. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't work with yarn!

The following are past crochet projects. Some are finished, others not.
These are shell stitch ruffle baby blankets I made many years ago.

This is a cotton baby blanket.


This is a lace cardigan for my younger daughter.






I hope to finish these projects in the future.
