Yes!!! It's a Tomten!

I feel I gave birth to this sweater. I started it September 2007 and finished it June 2008. It took nine months to make this Tomten.

I finished it off with Icord and used EZ Icord button holes.

I was first a Crocheter

My first love has always been crochet. I taught myself to crochet when I was 13 or 14 years old. I went to the 5&10 cent store and brought a booklet, Learn to Crochet.
I taught my mother to crochet and we would spend many happy hours crocheting together. Now that she is no longer with us these memories are so comforting. I also taught both my daughters and many students at school. Now my daughters continues the tradition and teach their students to crochet.
When Lupus came crochet had to go.
I'm unable to crochet much these days because it hurts my hands. Thank God knitting doesn't effect my hands as much. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't work with yarn!

The following are past crochet projects. Some are finished, others not.
These are shell stitch ruffle baby blankets I made many years ago.

These two projects are not finished.
This is a cotton baby blanket.

This is a lace cardigan for my younger daughter.

I hope to finish these projects in the future.

Ravelry Button of Honor

I am now a true member of Ravelry because I have a button!

Here is another button I am proud of.

It's my World Wide Knit in Public Day Button. I received it at Stix-n-Stitches when Pat and I spent hours Knitting in Public.
I am so Bless! Not only do I have the greatest family but I have friends to knit with. My daughters and I always knit together and I love that time together. Yesterday Pat and I spent the entier day knitting together. Today I gave a new friend some knitting lessons. She has a new Blog and is well on her way to knitting and blog world.

Finished the Debbie Bliss sweater

So school is out for summer and I am getting my projects done.

It feels so great to be able to relax and do just what you want. I guess that's what retirement is like.
This is the first time I down loaded all my pictures into my computer, resized them, put them into flickr and ravelry all by myself. Well, my teacher/daughter did make a cheat sheet for me. But I still did a great job and I'm proud of myself!

Friendly Tomten

A good friend of mind loved my Tomtens so much she wanted to make one for her granddaughter. So we entered the Tomten world together.

She is almost finished and I can't wait to see how it looks on her granddaughter.

Knit in Public Day

Kit in Public Day at stix-n-stitches was great. I met some very special knitters and crocheters. I was sharing my difficulties with knitty Oblique someone told me she and her husband had the same problem and were unable to finish the sweater. I think I'll try it again. I knew I would go back to it so I didn't take the rib off the needles.
I took advantage of the sidewalk sale and got some great yarn at great prices. I am well on the way to this The worlds biggest stash
I also got a lot of work done on both my Poonam and Debbie Bliss sweaters. I hope to finish both and post pictures soon.

Progress on Baby Poonam Sweater

I am still having problems uploading pictures into flickr so my daughter/computer teacher had to help me today.
These are the most recent pictures.

The buttons are from stix-n-stitches.

I feel they give the sweater the organic look I was going for.

Source for the Booties Pattern

Hag too (love the name) asked where I'd gotten my pattern for the booties. They're by Susan B. Anderson. That's a link to the site, here's a link to the PDF file.

New Cable Sweater

My new baby sweater is well on the way.

Baby Poonam from Berroco, made with Cascade Tweed 220. I love tweed yarns and enjoy working this easy pattern. The back and front are done but I still need help down loading the pictures. I just can't seem to remember what my daughter teaches me. This hope the more I do it the better I'll get.

I'm just about done with my Debbie Bliss Jacket With Seed Stitch Band, made with Debbie Bliss Cashmerino dk.

I just need the collar and seaming, but I ran out of yarn because I always make my sweaters a little bigger. I'm going to stix-n-stitches to get more and hope to finish it this weekend.

The Bootie family is growing.
Just arrived!

I will not make another pair for a while but I'm sure the family will continue to grow.
